This is a very interesting post. Obviously very emotional for some agents. Not long ago, we had something interesting happen. A man came to us and told us that he was going to build a website to dominate our real estate market. He said he would like to work with us on it, and we pay him a 20% referral fee. The site hasn't been indexed yet, but he did ALL the work and we are happy about it. We don't pay unless we close a deal through the website that he built. Pretty cool huh! Have a look at the website here St george real estate, and let me know what you think. I am interested to know, with all of your experiences, do you think this is a good idea, and are we getting a good deal? Thanks!

Yes, the combination of lead generating tools and traffic generation is what my own business model is based on -- and I think it's the right one. The reason for the lead generation company emphasis in this post is that I believe all approaches have possible merits and drawbacks -- depending on the agent. Having lead generation tools without traffic is as much a mistake as either paying a lead generation company too much or not following up on what they send.

You're preaching to the choir, but the choir was (and continues) to play devil's advocate some time.

Well, you don't really need to pay someone every month to generate online leads. You might purchase one or more lead generation tools and install them on your own web server.

I got a call from a lead generation company yesterday and didn't even let them get to the pitch. When I get these types of calls I ask if they are selling leads, if they say yes I tell them I'm not interested. I want to work with customers but don't want to pay someone else to generate that for me.

I agree that working on lead generation costs either money or time, I am hoping the time I'm putting in now will pay off in the long term.
